Dean Mourfield
Owner/LPL Financial Advisor
Dean is the owner of Artisan Wealth Strategies, as well as our Senior Partner and Financial Advisor. Dean has been in the industry since 1988, where he started as a financial advisor with Waddell & Reed, Inc., a major American investment corporation. He went on to become Principal/Branch Manager of both the Louisville, KY, division of Waddell & Reed as well as the Indianapolis division, where he supervised and trained financial advisors from 1993 to 2010.
In 2010, Dean decided to move away from leadership back into the financial advisor role after being asked by 26-year veteran advisor Jim McFarland to take over care of his clients. When asked why he stepped out the of the leadership role, his response was that he always knew that he would. His first love of the business was the personal nature of the advisor role and the ongoing opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives.
Dean continues to work with the majority of those families and enjoys working to help with all phases of their financial lives. Dean specializes in retirement income planning and multi-generational wealth transfer.
Dean attended Indiana State University, where he majored in Finance, and was involved in a wide variety of campus activities.
When asked what he likes most about his career, his response was that he enjoys learning about each client—their stories, their motivations, as well as their challenges, and helping them establish and pursue their financial objectives. Dean began his career working with young families, helping them to identify specific goals and to adopt good savings habits to seek those goals.
Dean grew up in Centerville, Indiana, a small town where his parents were business owners. During his younger years, he worked in the family business, where he learned the effects of a sincere work ethic and saving for future goals.
Today, Dean lives in Westfield with his wife of 33 years, Jennifer. They moved to Westfield recently to be closer to their young granddaughter, and are excited to be expecting their second grandchild late in 2021. Dean has three grown children and credits the closeness that they share as one of his greatest blessings.
Dean enjoys numerous hobbies and loves to try new ones when the opportunity arises. He grew up playing tennis and continues to play several times a week in USTA leagues. Dean also enjoys golf, woodworking, and cooking.
Dean strongly values the long term-relationships that he has with his clients.
